Abdominal pain can be acute and sudden or chronic and longstanding.

Chronic abdominal pain is pain that is present for more than three months and may be present all the time (chronic) or come and go (recurring). 


Many physical disorders cause chronic /stomach abdominal pain including stress, indigestion, food intolerances, reflux disease, gallbladder disorders, infections, IBS, some cancers and many others.

Menopause also increases abdominal symptoms in women with irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and endometriosis.

Common digestive problems include heartburn, IBD, and IBS and symptoms may include bloating, diarrhoea, indigestion, stomach cramps weight loss/gain and nausea.

Treatment includes a combination of medications; holistic support and lifestyle changes and you must speak to your GP for further investigation.
